Life is going so well

It’s been a while since I updated anyone on the state of my well-being. But my being is EXTREMELY well. My new branch is absolutely fantastic. I am surrounded by people who appreciate me, are impressed by me, and are coming to rely on me. I’m in a better area, not constantly reminded of the Marathon attacks, and enjoying every single minute of my job now, for the first time in months! I feel more like I work in Boston now, and get to spend more time wandering around the city and actually have nights off again!

Patrick and I are going well. We went and saw Iron Man last night and he’s getting off work soon to come home early! I plan on surprising him with scratch tickets and peppermint stick ice cream (his two favorite corner store things!) and letting him sleep in late tomorrow morning (by sneaking out really stealthily in the morning).

I’m happy, healthy, and getting back to normal. Things are going very well

THANK YOU. Rules like these prepare you for the workforce, they prepare you for LIFE. You have to follow a dress code as an adult, when you have a career, because you have to look professional. What teenagers don’t seem to want to understand is that the point of school is to help you practice for your adult life and to help you get ready for how you have to behave and what you have to know what you grow up. Imagine if your teachers came to school in short shorts with lots of cleavage. That would be distracting and inappropriate, no?

It’s not that girls aren’t allowed to wear shorts. It’s that girls aren’t allowed to have their shorts be SO SHORT that their ass cheeks are literally visible. And not all girls do this, but OFTEN, the ones that DO wear clothes like that are doing it BECAUSE they want sexual attention from boys. And then they want to cling to this argument, blame the boys for doing exactly what they hoped for in the first place, so they can continue to dress provocatively on purpose.

When I was in 7th grade, I had was wearing shorts on a hot day, and a boy I liked told me that I had nice legs. Oh my God I WAS THRILLED. Holy shit, I’m getting attention from a boy because of a body part? I’m gonna show that body part off as much as I can so I can keep getting attention from this boy! That was literally what went through my head. I didn’t buy shorter shorts because that extra inch of my thigh was too hot from wearing dress-code-appropriate shorts, I bought them because I liked the attention.

That’s NORMAL. It doesn’t mean the boy was doing something bad. He didn’t say it in a sexual way. He was just walking by me in the hallway and said, “Tess, those shorts look nice on you, you have nice legs.” But if I had been wearing tiny booty shorts and my ass was hanging out, I would have gotten a more extreme reaction. Not because it’s bad for a boy to appreciate a body part that he doesn’t get to see very often. There’s a time and place for a boy to appreciate your ass, and there’s even a time and place to feel good about the fact that a boy appreciates your ass. But that time and place IS NOT DURING SCHOOL.

Wear shorts on a hot day. Nobody’s shaming you for that. But have some decency and wear shorts that cover your butt. Guys can’t come to school in their underwear, so girls shouldn’t come to school with denim underwear and call them shorts.

I’m done with all of this. TIME AND A PLACE PEOPLE. Shorts that are currently in style are honestly not much longer that boy short cut bathing suits/underwear! No one is sexualizing your teen body, you’re doing that yourself. Cover your baby butts.
